You are invited to the Pennsylvania East Coast Greenway Summit, to be held on October 15, 2008. Details TBD -- contact Dennis Winters for more info.

The Greenway will enter Pennsylvania from New Jersey in Morrisville, across the Delaware River from Trenton. It will pass through lower Bucks County, Philadelphia, and Delaware County, crossing into the State of Delaware near Marcus Hook.

It's Official! The first section of East Coast Greenway in Pennsylvania has been designated. The Schuylkill River Trail in Philadelphia, from Lloyd Hall (on Boat House Row) south to Locust Street, is complete. The future section of Schuylkill River Trail from Locust Street south to Grays Ferry Avenue has also been officially designated as a link in the East Coast Greenway, and is now under design.

Projections suggest that by the end of 2010, 43 miles of East Coast Greenway will be open (nearly 80% of the route through the state). However, this can only happen if funding comes through as anticipated.

PennDOT has designated the ECG Interim Route as Bike PA Route E, part of the network of nine state-maintained bike routes that cross Pennsylvania north to south and east to west: hundreds of miles of scenic roads. You can use the Bike Route E signs to navigate the Interim East Coast Greenway.

    Delaware River City Corp.

DRCC is creating the North Delaware Riverfront Greenway, a key 8-mile link in the ECG in Philadelphia. DRCC's aim "is to transform much of the vacant, former industrial properties along the (Delaware) riverfront into a destination frontage that will bring new distinction and identity to the City and stimulate the economy and culture of the entire City. Transformation of the North Delaware Riverfront will help to truly make Philadelphia the new 'River City.'” Follow this link to DRCC's web site.

    Design Contract Awarded

The Delaware County Planning Department (DCPD) received proposals from consulting planners with a background in shared use path planning to assist Delaware County, the City of Chester, Eddystone Borough, Ridley Township, and the ECGA in the preparation of a feasibility study to determine the appropriate ECG through Ridley Township, Eddystone Borough, and Chester City connecting already planned and programmed portions in Tinicum Township with those under construction in Chester City at Rivertown. The study area corresponds to segments 6A through 6D as denoted on the detailed map.

The contract has been awarded to a team of consultants led by Ray Ott & Associates, that includes Campbell Thomas & Co., Arora & Associates, and Kleinfelder Inc.
